FAAB Bidding Procedure

For Directions on Doing Add / Drops or Add / DL, ML Moves on CBS, See This Link Making Player Moves on CBS

1) Players Eligible for FAAB Bidding

A) When players are dropped from a Fantasy Team or traded to the NL, the FAAB will regulate when they are eligible to be bid on. This information is on the Players Profile Page.

B) When players are activated from the Minors or from the DL, it is not regulated by CBS and each Owner is on his own to wait the one day after activation before he can bid. -- The time starts on the day when the CBS transaction site says the player is activated to the NL 25 man roster. If the player is listed in a box score as playing in a game before the CBS site lists him, the day he plays in a game is counted as the activation day. == Example - A player is activated on Tuesday, he may not be bid on until the FAAB of Thursday 12:07 AM CT. == If a player is bid on early, it will be an illegal bid, and the penalty listed in Rule 5 A) on FAAB Bidding Procedures applies.

2) Replacing Injured or Sent to the Minors Players

A) DL and ML replacement players would be picked up with a $0 (zero dollar) bid. This would be a free move. The DL / ML replacement and the DL / ML player would be linked and have the same salary.

B) If you bid to replace a DL / ML player with an amount higher than zero, it would count as one of your twelve moves and the players would not be linked.

C) If you bid zero and drop a player, it would be an illegal move and it would be reversed. The move would not count. -- A few exceptions to this rule are == (1) If an Active Linked Player goes on the DL, he must be dropped and the player won would be linked to the DL / ML player. (2) If a player is Designated for Assignment or traded to the AL, he may be dropped and a replacement won with a $0 bid. The replacement player will be a Topper and get the salary of $10 or the player dropped, whichever is lower. == A good rule of thumb is that if a player is lost through no fault of your own, you may use a $0 bid to replace him and drop the player lost.

D) If CBS Transaction Site shows a player as being on the DL or sent to the Minors, but does not show on the Team Page as DL / ML, you may still bid on a replacement. After you win the bid, post on the message board and ask the Commish to make the DL / ML transaction for you. You may bid on only one player using this procedure, no multiple bids are allowed. If you make multiple bids to insure you win one replacement player, all players won will be dropped from your team and the move reversed.

E) Should you have a player on your active Fantasy team but on the NL DL / ML list and you also have a player on the Fantasy DL / ML who is ready to be activated with no link, you may just switch the two with no FAAB Bid if you can make your team positions legal.

F) After August 31, injured players are often not put on the NL DL due to roster expansion. For our purposes, a player may qualify for the DL during September and October, if he has an injury and has missed six consecutive games. He may then have a replacement as in a normal DL transaction. You can make a zero dollar bid for a replacement player and after you win him ask the Commish to move your Injured Player to the DL. == If CBS Site or the Player Profile Page list the player as "Out for the Season", but not on the DL, he may be replaced immediately. == If a player is listed on his player bio page as "Shut Down" without an injury and is finished for the season, he may be put on the DL as are other September DL players. If the "Shut Down Player" plays in a game again, he must immediately be put on the active roster and the linked replacement player dropped. == There is no limit on these type of special DL transactions and they may not be claimed from the DL by other owners. Just bid on a DL replacment as is normal. DO NOT drop the DL player. If you win the player, post on the message board and ask the Commish to make the DL transaction for you.

F) The last time to pickup players, other than $0 players, will be in the September 16 at 12:07AM CT FAAB run. The FAAB will still stay on after this date, but only DL / ML Replacement players may be picked up using a $0 bid. If an Owner should make a bid higher than $0, the transaction would be reversed with no penalty.

3) Poaching Players

When an Owner has left a player on his Fantasy DL / ML for two Mondays at 8 PM after the NL team has activated him (if activated on Monday, it counts as the first), the player or his active link may be "Poached" (stolen). Any Owner may post a message that the player is being Poached and ask the Commish to drop the player. The player may then be bid on in the following days FAAB run. If an Owner requests a player be dropped, the player must be bid on ($0 or higher) in the next day's FAAB run. If he is not bid on, the Owner requesting the drop will be charged a move. == If the player on the DL is Poached, the active link becomes a Topper with the current salary or $10 whichever is less. If the active link is Poached, the player on the Fantasy DL will be moved to the active roster.

4) Ties In FAAB Bidding

A) If there is a tie for high bid, the FAAB tiebreaker automatically breaks the tie. The FAAB tiebreaker will be set to the reverse order of standings for the previous year at the start of the season. Everytime an Owner wins a bid, he will move to the bottom of the list and everyone that was below him moves up a notch. It will continue this way all season.

5) Penalties When Using FAAB

A) If an Owner wins a bid on a player that has not satisfied the one day calendar day wait, the bid is VOID, the Add / Drop is reversed, the Move counts and his position in the FAAB tiebreaker order remains as the system has put it after the bid. The Owner may not bid on the player in the next FAAB run where he is available. == If the bid made was a DL or ML transaction with a $0 bid, no move will be charged, but all other penalties will apply.

B) After every FAAB player is won, all 23 positions must be correct per our rules. An Owner will be given an opportunity to move players to different positions to make the roster legal. If this can not be done, it will be considered an illegal move. The add/drop will be reversed and the Move will count among the 12 for the season. The Owners position in the FAAB tiebreaker order remains as the system has put it after the bid. The Owner may not bid on the player in the next FAAB run where he is available.

C) If an Owner wins a bid and his Team Salary exceeds $290, the bid will be VOID with the move counting. The player dropped will be added back to the team at the same salary and contract status. The Owners position in the FAAB tiebreaker order remains as the system has put it after the bid. The Owner may not bid on the player in the next FAAB run where he is available.
